WASHINGTON – Today technology industry trade group ITI, the global voice of the tech sector, released the following statement from Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Andy Halataei applauding the House of Representatives for passing H.R. 4986 or the Repack Airwaves Yielding Better Access for Users of Modern Services Act of 2018 (RAY BAUM’S Act).

“As companies around the globe race to develop and deploy fifth generation wireless connectivity, it is vital that additional licensed and unlicensed spectrum is available to meet these demands. Spectrum is the lifeblood of modern infrastructure and without it, we will not fully realize the vast benefits of emerging technologies. To that end, we thank the House of Representatives for passing the RAY BAUM’S Act, which will ensure the U.S. remains a global leader in deploying the next generation of wireless connectivity.”

ITI recently applauded the Senate for passing the MOBILE NOW Act, which makes more spectrum available. Spectrum is the finite and valuable radio frequencies that all wireless communications use, but which are currently strained to capacity in our data-hungry world, making 5G deployment a crucial step forward for future innovations like autonomous vehicles and smart cities that will improve our lives.
